Marshmallow Fun

We baked homemade marshmallows over the weekend in anticipation of a camping trip to Yellowstone. When making marshmallows at home corn syrup is used but a significant amount of sugar is added. Apparently, store bought marshmallows are corn syrup and a bunch of complex ingredients that I can't pronounce. Further, when roasting over a fire the marshmallow crisps up similar to the top layer of creme brulee due to the use of real sugar. Factoring in the coating of coconut, homemade marshmallows encased in smoores is about the best thing going.

So good in fact, that tonight we grabbed a few leftovers and our creme brulee torch and whipped up a few smoors after dinner in the kitchen.
